Obituary: Mohammad Ali (1942-2016)

Mohammad Ali has died. Here is Guardian’s obituary.

In the 70s and 80s in India, Mohammad Ali was a superstar. We also grew up listening to the Johnny Wakelin songs: In Zaire, Black Superman. Mohammad Ali was a trope to several Malayali writers in that rare achievement where something from athletics has the potential to be carried over into a worldview, a philosophy, if you will. Rene Higuita did that. Mohammad Ali did that. It is good that you are not alive to see this embarrassing travesty called Donald Trump.  My entire skin creeps out at the thought of living here if this guy becomes the president. What we need is Mohammad Ali’s knock out and  Higuita’s penalty kick in this election. Rest in peace, Mohammad Ali. You were beloved all the world over.

And from the great state of Pennsylvania, here is the news to turn your stomach.
