Where is the Snow?

I was looking through my notes and pictures — I usually make a note to myself or take a picture–of the first day of snow for the past few years in central Pennsylvania. Unless I am reading my handwriting wrong, here are the dates of the first day of snow the last few years:

October 15, 2009 — apparently there was a big blizzard!

November 20, 2008

November 18, 2007

Today it was about 70 degrees warm here in central PA. I had to leave all the windows open. It is unbelievable really. It was like Dallas or Houston. There is no snow anywhere.

I think we, as a civilization, have finally completely destroyed our planet. All this Paris climate conference and all that –reduce CO2 emissions by 2C–it is all a front. It is for nothing. We have destroyed the earth beyond repair.  You take what you want and destroy everything have a fun life and then you die. You don’t care what happens to the world after you. You don’t care what happens to the earth after you. Destroy the world out of sheer greed and carelessness.

Yesterday at the grocery store I saw this father with his little kid–a 5-6 year old girl — and I felt such respect for him because he was carrying an actual cardboard box — sort of hugging it to his chest–and he was putting the things he was buying into that box. He was standing ahead of me at the counter and he paid for everything and put everything in that cardboard box and walked out with it. The kid also had a little cardboard box with her and she carried a few things in her box as well. They didn’t take a single plastic bag or any of those plastic box sort of things. Wise man.
