Potty-mouth Presidents

You might have seen this already, but Inside Higher Ed just ran the editorial as well on Lincoln University president Robert Jenning’s advice to students. Why is this man still the president of an institution of higher education? It is so disturbing to think that this low, crude, unevolved man earns a six figure salary as the president of a university that theoretically shapes the future of young men and women. The president said many crude things but the following is really offensive to both men and women:

“We will use you up if you allow us to use you up,” Jennings said, apparently including himself and other men. He said that men will convince a woman she is the best thing since sliced bread, even though “we’re slicing your bread and somebody else’s bread too – if you allow us to do that.”

Where is this president getting his insight into human nature? From crude music videos? What university president talks to students like this? If this president spoke like this to my son or my daughter, they would leave that university in a heartbeat. When parents send their children to the university, we want to be assured that should something unfortunate happen to our sons or our daughters, there would be justice and consequences.  Sexual assault is one of the worst crimes on a campus. We don’t want to hear this kind of trash-talk. This president has just placed himself on the lowest rung of the evolutionary chain. You should really watch your mouth when you talk to students. Or teachers. Or parents.
