LHU Women’s History Month — Book Talk

KiernanFlyerOn behalf of the Women and Gender Studies program, I invite you to the various events marking March and Women’s History Month. The National Women’s History Project has identified the 2014 theme as “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment.”

Our traditional observation of Women’s History Month starts with a Book Talk by Dr. David Russell (English) on Denise Kiernan’s fascinating book The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II. A New York Times Bestseller, Kiernan’s book tells the story of the “unsung women who assisted on the Manhattan Project, signing up for secret work in Oak Ridge, Tennessee to help build the atomic bomb.” Dr. Russell will discuss the book and its contribution to women’s history, as well as his experiences teaching the book to our students.

When: Tuesday, March 4, 6pm-7:30pm, Raub 323

We hope you will join us for this informative discussion. Please contact me at or x2284 for any inquiries. The event is free and open to campus and community.
