Eggs and Sausage in a Cadillac

A very interesting interview with Tom Waits here. I don’t know much about Tom Waits’s songs–I only have the Nighthawks at the Diner CD– but the ones I have heard, I really like them. Most of his songs just cracks me up! Very strange and sweet. A very literate mind.

Very funny article on Hollywood captions and intertitles. Yep “J Lo” needs geography lessons as well. “From Las Vegas to Africa. . .

Actually, I love Creedence Clearwater Revival but I have always been puzzled by this line from their song Cotton Fields — “it was down in Louisiana/ Just about a mile from Texarkana.” I have tried hard to find out what is the 1-mile border between Texarkana and Louisiana? Shreveport is about 70-80 miles away from Texarkana. Where are the cotton fields between Texarkana and Louisiana? Does anyone know? If you do, please tell me. It has bothered me all these years. I love CCR and if I ever meet any one of them, I will ask them this — maybe they had a specific place in mind.

On another note, I just discovered this musician and song when I was doing some research on Argentina. What a gorgeous song! My new project is to learn how to sing this; what a beautiful beautiful song.
