You are welcome Bill. But stay away from violence though! My guess is that they will probably invent a phone so small, something so small that it fits right between your teeth--like a rose--or maybe something like a lapel pin that you can directly stick into your throat--so that you can drive and talk. It is absolutely essential that we should all be talking all the time--Wall Street counts on you to do your duty. Thanks. GD.

You know Professor Devi, I won't say that grammar or syntax are my strong points, but I do feel I have a fairly good grasp on how the language is supposed to work.

Likewise, I find myself correcting just about anything that falls under my gaze.

I was reading through a manual for a new computer case which I just bought, and it was terrible. Surely China has someone who can write a simple manual in English!

I got a good laugh from the "pornographic messages" you mentioned. I guess part of that we must take into account the general intelligence of the elevator and bathroom poets.

I don't get on your blog site very often, but I must say I really enjoy reading your posts.

Totally "baillin."

Resistance Literature?
Oh, if you offer this class again, I would so gladly like to be enrolled for it.

I had taken the Holocaust Literature course with Professor Cannady.

Did you know there was a group of Jewish men who were of the "Paper Brigade?"

The were resisters living in a ghetto who strived to find, hide, and preserve all Hebrew literature and documents that the Nazi's were confiscating and destroying.

I would hope you might offer this class again soon.

P-L-E-A-S-E?

Thank you for wonderful reading here on WordPress.

OH my goodness, I have finally stumbled across a like-minded individual!!

It is utterly amazing to me as well that the younger generation doesn't seem to mind the Governments ability and overarching prescence to keep an eye on us.

I bet if they knew just how much the government might know and how far they are willing to intrude might just change a few minds.

One small piece of equipment can capture every screen, every message, every text and be used against you.

An employer and friend of mine had been a private detective. He sat in FBI surveillance and security seminars. It's scary to know just what technologies, which are so far beyond our comprehension, that are being used to track us.

I feel as you do. Let us (with smaller government)set our own community standards. Do we need such an intrusion? I would vote that the Gov't should be far more intrusive into the lives of those who are living in the U.S. illegally (of whom the debate is for the possibiliy for inclusion in health care). Alas, that's another stone to roll over later.

Cell phones!!! AYE CARAMBA!!! I had a good foretaste of what was to come in 2003 while riding on the Skytrain (public transportation). Everywhere I was surrounded by a cacophony of rings, chirps, tones, tunes........(I just went numb for a brief moment).
As you noted, with cell phones there is a lot of chatter, but not really all that much being said.

I have often stated to my friends and coworkers my distaste for texting. "Just call the damn person up, talk for a few minutes, get it over with and you don't have to waste all day long playing with your damn phone," is my usual statement to them. I'm a fossil according to them. So be it.
But fear be upon anyone who causes myself or a loved one to be harmed in an auto accident which results from cell phone texting. I'm not a violent person, but I would probably be charged for battery or assault for shoving said cell phone device into a specific part of the offenders anatomy.

Well, when these "children" have to face some of the consequences of the new age of technology and gov't guidance, perhaps they will change perspective and become a bit more free-minded and free-spirited like those of the 60's.

Welcome back Bill! Are you all set for the new semester? Is your new baby here yet?

By all means see the movie for yourself. It is a bad movie. You know the great physicist Stephen J Hawking once said something like the beating of a butterfly's wing on one side of the globe creates a tidal wave on the other side or something like that--I am mangling the great man's words--but from there it is a stretch to say that the aboriginal way of life in Australia was exterminated by the Japanese--that is what the movie says. Ha!

Are you all set for English 280? I've posted the textbook information on CARS.

Amazing. I've spent 4 or 5 hours sitting on the plane myself waiting, wondering, worrying, as the temperature became almost unbeara ble (AC system was being repaired - hence the delay) Not fun, but then neither is sleeping on the floor with newspapers as your mattress at Washington Dulles at 4 a.m. This is after my 2 year old daughter (who was still on Thailand's schedule) finally wound down. We walked and walked.........rode the trams a few times....walked some more. I wish I could forget that!

Are you sure you don't want to learn some guitar?

All those Beatles song........I'll leave it at that.

Oh my, what a good write up!! I'm still giggling.

Isn't it amazing how many movie script writers only write within their self-conceptualized perceptions?

I had hopes for seeing this movie, but alas, I think I'll take a pass.

And those damn Japanese.........Although a young Chinese girl in a few of my classes last semester really didn't like them very much.

Nanjing, other atrocities, I try to understand her dislike, but living with that mindset will never allow a refreshing change of attitudes that is so very necessary for all of us in this increasingly smaller sphere we call home.

That is indeed bad news. That is terrible. I am in India right now, but when I get back to Lock Haven, I will see what we can do. There is a small but strong community of people interested in the welfare of animals and wilderness in the town. Maybe all of us can get together and help Kristina. Meanwhile if you are in the area, you might want to see what can be done as well. It would be great to do a story in the newspaper, for instance. If I were there, for instance, that would be the first thing I would do. Good luck. And thanks for telling me this. We thought Kristina's work was so important. Best GD.

I read your article about your rescued rabbit, my husband and i recently rescued a racoon and brought him up to Kristina. She had some very sad news, she quite possibly is going to lose her property if something isnt done and lose the rescue, if there is anything you could think of fund raising wise or anything else please pass it on to either my email or through phone to her...thank you
